Built on Tenth was built because nobody else would publish this.

Why this exists
I started Built on Tenth because the research operators were buying wasn't research.
I spent the better part of a decade watching HVAC owners pay $30,000 to
$80,000 a year for "competitive intelligence" that turned out to be a
24-slide PowerPoint built by the same agency selling them ads. The report
never said anything the agency didn't want said.
Operators kept asking the same question — "How do I actually rank
against the top three shops in my city?" — and the answer was always
the same: more retainer, more spend, more trust. Nobody would publish the
floor: who's winning, by how much, and why.
So I built it. One report, written by one person, sold for a fixed price.
No retainer, no upsell, no referrals. If the research isn't worth
$1,497 of your attention, I haven't done my job — and you don't owe me your
money. The Diagnostic comes with a $5K-gap-or-refund floor for that
reason.
Independence here isn't a marketing claim. It's the line in the operating
agreement that prevents this practice from ever accepting an agency
referral fee, a paid placement, or a "we'll fix it for you" upsell. Read on.
The Independence Pledge
No agency referrals.
No paid placements.
No "we'll fix it for you" upsell.
Independence is the product.

What I will, and won't, do.
I will
+Publish operator-named research. Every diagnostic identifies the operators it compares you to — by name, by URL, with date stamps.
+Take corrections within 5 business days. If you find a factual error in any report or article, email it and I'll publish a corrected version with a changelog.
+Refund or re-run if the gap floor isn't met. The Market Diagnostic carries a $5,000 minimum gap guarantee — surface less and you choose the remedy.
+Read and reply to every email personally. No CRM auto-response. No "team" who handles inquiries.
I won't
✕Take agency referral fees. If a marketing agency sends a client this way, the agency receives nothing.
✕Run ads on this site. No display, no sponsorship, no "supported by." The revenue model is the products on this site, full stop.
✕Sell your contact information. Email captured by The Field Report and the Snapshot form sits in one place and is never shared.
✕Recommend vendors I can't independently verify. If the report names a software, agency, or vendor, I've used it myself or evaluated it on operator-supplied data.
